Sara Khatib passed away on September 5th 2014 at age 22 after a very long and difficult struggle with cancer.

Throughout her journey, Sara refused to be defined by her cancer or any of the other obstacles she faced; she refused to be a victim. Despite her deteriorating condition, which eventually led to the amputation of her right arm, Sara faced her struggle with a lot of strength and positivity.

In fact she lived her difficult times inspired by the expression “Pain is inevitable, Suffering is optional”. Sara dreamed of having a medium to connect with other cancer patients and amputees, to share experiences and support each other. This is where the idea of Look Forward comes from.

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. On August 23, 2014, Sara Khatib left 4 objects, symbolizing 4 lessons, in our shared time capsule. These were the lessons she wished to share with the world.
